Monaghan nightclub The Forum has shut its doors.
The club, located at the rear of the Westenra Arms Hotel, had been struggling to compete with new rival nightclubs, Club Mexx and The Junction. The Forum was forced to close on Fridays and Saturdays in late 2012, due to lack of customers, and was only operating on Sunday nights.
The club is set to undergo a huge renovation, and is rumoured to be transforming into a superclub like Sense in Cookstown.
The nightclub will be hoping to emulate the success of its sister club Vanity in Carrickmacross. Re-branded from Fiddlers nightclub, Vanity has seen a huge increase in customers and celebrity clientèle including appearances from JLS, Rosanna Davison and Georgia Salpa.
